About OG Landshark

Hi, my name is Jay, I go by (DBA) Landshark Genetics online, and I'm a legacy Maine cannabis farmer and patient. I am not a member of the cannabis industry, I'm just a fellow patient a grower.

If you're a “local” you may already know me as I’m a local myself. Born and raised in Bridgton Maine, my family came here in the 1940’s. My paternal  ancestors were Finnish farmers who came to Maine at around the turn of the century. I grew up on a local farm, and me and my wife raised our family here as well.

What a fun way to grow up!, Some pics of my childhood.

My cannabis farming adventures began in the mid 90’s, and in 1997 me and a friend Nick grew the original Maine Blueberry. To my knowledge, Nick Spinzola was the breeder of the seed. Sadly, he departed in 1999. I think of him often as I work, especially at harvest season. In the years since I have been quietly farming in the hills and woods of my home. Preserving, gathering, and breeding while exploring and learning organic regenerative farming practices.

Therapeutically speaking, my emphasis is on cannabis strains that may help with the symptoms related to PTSD, mood disorders, neuropathy, and chronic pain. For thousands of years cannabis has been safely grown and consumed for industrial, nutritional, therapeutic, religious, and recreational purposes. The prohibition of cannabis in the War on Drugs was both misguided and dishonest. I believe there was wisdom in our ancestors' use of natural therapies.

Also, I look for an enjoyable product. I keep an eye out for new unique flavors, pursuing high potency and effect levels without compromising on flavor and aroma profile. I tend to favor sweet, fruity, ranging into pungent cultivars.

As a small-scale craft farmer, my methods vary, but I always use natural inputs. Constantly experimenting to improve my methods and materials. I make my own composts, and inputs using traditional living soil farming methods such as KNF, JADAM and no-till.  I never use pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or plant growth regulators.

I’ve spent decades in search of the best genetics. Selecting, acquiring, and breeding a stable of cultivars. I continue to do so in service to the community as a whole while sharing gardening knowledge I've picked up along the way. My work will continue in the manner it has for decades.
